"OUT OF SCOPE" ACTIVITIES
.
.
.
A
statement of work (SOW) is a detailed contractual description of the specific goods and/or services required under a contract.
The SOW (as an integral part of the contract) covers
many items (See: http://www.ncmahq.org/files/Articles/9BAF4_CM0807_C02_p58.pdf ).
.
.
One of the items covered by the SOW is the "scope of the work"
within the SOW. The scope of work is further subdivided in tasks or in a work breakdown structure (WBS). An increase
(or decrease) in this scope of the work (to the extent that it is considered outside the scope of work) is often referred
to as ... "out of scope" ... and it often requires an adjustment ("Change") in the contract
price, schedule or other provisions.
